Pakistani pacer Naseem Shah shared his experience of playing the first-ever one-day international match against India in the Asia Cup 2023 in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
Naseem, 20, is one of the most economical bowlers in the world and in the ongoing Asian event, he has the best economy rate (3.83) among the Pakistani bowlers.
In a video posted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Shah opened up on his first 50-over encounter against the arch-rivals and what were his feelings throughout the game.
"It was a wonderful experience, I bowled very well. You know one-day format is different than T20, I have played T20I against them," Shah said.
"In ODIs, you have to bowl with patience. In the early stages, ball seam and swing movement were helping but you can just do your best and bowl at good lengths, that is what I did."
The 20-year-old then talked about the exceptional start Pakistan had against India, thanks to Shaheen Afridi's world-class spell and Haris Rauf's important wickets.
"Shaheen bowled outstanding in the start, Haris bowled great as well. I think everyone deserves the credit for yesterday.
"I have played so much cricket in Lahore, especially during my childhood days. Playing in Lahore would be very special and we will try to win by performing well."
Pakistan will play their next Asia Cup game on September 7 at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore in the Super Four stage.
Earlier on Saturday, Pakistan didn't get a chance to bat as persistent rain thwarted their chances of chasing down India's target of 267 runs.
Batting first, The Blues were dismissed for 266 runs as Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya scored fifties and brought their side back in the game after India had slipped to 66-4 inside 15 overs.
Pandya (87 off 90) and Kishan (82 off 81) added 138 runs in 141 balls for the fifth wicket.
All the wickets of the Indian batters were taken by the Pakistani pacers.
Afridi took four while Rauf and Shah took three wickets each with the latter bowling an economical spell of 36-3 in 8.5 overs.
