Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti provided an update on Arda Guler’s injury on Friday in Madrid.
Ancelotti addressed Guler’s injury during a press conference and stated that there is no big problem.
“Arda Guler’s problem is very small, he will be back in no time,” Ancelotti said.
There were reports from Spanish sources that Guler may undergo surgery which would keep him out of the field for two to three months but according to Ancelotti’s latest comments, it seems like the surgery option is out of the equation.
The 18-year-old was the fifth summer signing of the Los Blancos and he was signed for a fee of €18m plus add-ons, with a sell-on clause also included in the deal.
The Turk got injured during a training session during Madrid’s pre-season tour and did not play a single game in the United States.
The club reported his meniscus injury on July 29.
The footballer suffered a partial tear of the internal meniscus in his right knee, an injury for which almost all specialists recommend surgery.
This week has not been great for the Whites as, yesterday, Madrid’s first-choice goalkeeper Courtois left training in tears after suffering an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.
Courtois' left knee turned when he went to pick up a ball in the final training game.
The Belgian will undergo surgery during the next few days.
“After the tests carried out on our player Thibaut Courtois, he’s been diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee. The player will undergo surgery in the coming days,” Real Madrid said in a brief statement.
According to The Athletic's Mario Cortegana, Courtois is likely to miss the entire season. He added that the best-case scenario for the goalkeeper is returning to the pitch in April.
The 31-year-old has been a key member of Real's side since joining from Chelsea in 2018. He has made 230 appearances for the Spanish club, winning two La Liga titles and one Champions League.
