England football team’s captain Harry Kane has landed in Germany to complete his move to Bayern Munich and will undergo a medical anytime soon, reported Sky Sports on Friday.
The 31-year-old was informed that the transfer had been agreed at around 3pm after which he took the earliest flight to Germany and landed there at 6pm United Kingdom (UK) time.
Bayern’s bid of £86m fee including add-ons that would take the transfer to a total of £100 million was accepted by the English club.
Bayern’s coach Thomas Tuchel talked about the importance of Kane’s arrival in Munich during his pre-match press conference.
"We are trying to get the captain of the English national team out of England, out of the Premier League," Tuchel said. "That says it all. It is a huge deal that we are working on, a huge signature that we are working on, but we are still in the process."
Bayern kick off their 2023-24 season with a German Cup clash against RP Leipzig on Saturday (August 12) and if everything goes according to the plan, Kane may make his debut tomorrow.
The registration deadline is 3:00 pm Central Europe Time (CET) tomorrow.
The clubs had been in talks for weeks but never came closer to an agreement as two of Bayern’s initial bids of £70 and £85 million were refused by Tottenham’s chairman Daniel Levy.
Although Levy valued Kane around £120m as he is arguably the greatest player in Tottenham’s history but with just a year left in his contract, a £100m deal was accepted in order to avoid losing him for free next summer.
Kane notched up 307 goals and 80 assists in 514 club appearances, so far, over the course of his career.
He also became the first footballer to score in 25 different matches in a 38-game Premier League in the 2022-23 season.
It must be noted that Kane is the second-highest goal scorer in the Premier League (PL) history. With 213 goals, he is only 47 goals behind the top scorer Alan Shearer who scored 260 goals in his staggering career.
