LAHORE: Important decisions related to Pakistan cricket are expected to be taken next week, according to sources.

Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Zaka Ashraf is likely to approve the recommendations made by the Cricket Technical Committee during the next few days.

The PCB had appointed former Test cricketer Misbah-ul-Haq as the head of the high-profile Cricket Technical Committee.

The committee includes former Test cricketers Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez.

Domestic cricket structure will also be revealed in the coming days, with departments and regions likely to be brought back in the fold.

A new selection committee, which is likely to include Head Coach Grant Bradburn and Director Mickey Arthur, could also be announced in the coming days. Sources also added that PCB has offered the role of chief selector to former captain Inzamam and are hopeful that the latter will accept it.

The selection committee will announce squads for Pakistan’s ODI series against Afghanistan and the Asian Cup soon after it takes charge.

The central contracts will also be handed over to the players after the selection committee is formed.

The PCB has decided to end the red and white ball category from the central contracts.

The new contracts will be distributed in four different categories, named A, B, C and D, to the players.

The PCB has also decided to reduce the number of players — which was 33 in the last year — in the central contract to 25 or 26.

The players are also expected to get a historic rise of more than 100% in their retainers.

It must be noted that the contracts expired on June 30 but were extended for a month due to uncertainty regarding chairmanship in the PCB.
