Pakistani cricketer Zia-ul-Haq has been roped in by Texas Super Kings (TSK) for the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) in the USA.
Zia also left Pakistan for the USA in search of a better cricket future. He has been featuring in domestic cricket there for some time now. Previously, he played U19 and first-class cricket in Pakistan.
Taking to Twitter, TSK made the announcement of their new signing during the league.
"Welcome aboard Zia-ul-Haq, our new Lion!" the franchise announced.
TSK is owned by Indian Premier League (IPL) five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Pakistan's Sami Aslam and Mohammad Mohsin are also part of this team.
Other Pakistani cricketers in the league are Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf (San Francisco Unicorns), Ehsan Adil and Hammad Azam (MI New York), Imad Wasim (Seattle Orcas), Saif Badar (Los Angeles Knight Riders), Saad Ali and Mukhtar Ahmed (Washington Freedom).
MLC is backed by massive investment from the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises.
Four out of six teams are owned by IPL franchises. IPL franchise Mumbai Indians bought MI New York team whereas Kolkata Knight Riders have Los Angeles Knight Riders. Chennai Super Kings also have their franchise Texas Super Kings in the league. Delhi Capitals' owners share ownership of Seattle Orcas.
