Pakistani leg-spinner Usama Mir has been signed by Manchester Originals for the upcoming third edition of the Hundred.
Usama has replaced Sri Lanka's Wahindu Hasaranga who will be busy leading B-Love Kandy in the Lanka Premier League during the Hundred's window from August 1-27.
Recently, Usama represented Worcestershire in the Vitality Blast 2023 where he took 19 wickets at an average of 16. He also scored 132 runs in the given matches.
Usama, who was looking forward to going to England for playing cricket, got a call from Pakistan team for ODIs earlier this year. He made his ODI debut against New Zealand in Karachi this year. He replaced injured Shadab Khan in the three-match series.
So far, Usama has played six ODIs, all against New Zealand. He bagged 10 wickets and bowled at an impressive economy of 5.29. After performing in ODIs, his name is also coming under consideration for the ICC World Cup in India, scheduled in October-November this year.
More changes in the Hundred
Australia's Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh will miss the Hundred to manage their workload ahead of the ICC World Cup in India.
As reported by ESPNcricinfo, Maxwell, and Marsh were directed by Cricket Australia (CA) to withdraw from the league.
Maxwell and Marsh were signed by London Spirit for £125,000 (US$160,000). Australia's Matthew Wade and New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell have replaced the Aussie duo in the squad.
