Paula Badosa missed her boyfriend Stefanos Tsitsipas' clash against Christopher Eubanks on Monday, since she left for Spain, during the ongoing Wimbledon.
The women’s tennis star posted a selfie from Madrid as the Greek suffered a fourth-round defeat and crashed out of the tournament. Tsitsipas lost in five sets against the unseeded American in an enthralling clash.
Badosa was courtside when Tsitsipas defeated Andy Murray and Dominic Thiem in the earlier rounds of the event. However, that was not the case when the number five seed took on Eubanks.
Badosa and Tsitsipas have been dating since last month.
It must be noted that Badosa’s Wimbledon ended after she was forced to retire from her second-round match against Marta Kostyuk last week due to injury. The injury also meant that she was also unable to participate in the mixed doubles at Wimbledon with Tsitsipas.
Eubanks was down two sets to one but bounced back to win 3-6, 7-6 (7/4), 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
"It´s like I´m living the dream right now," the American said. "This is absolutely insane."
The 27-year-old described grass as the "stupidest" surface to play on just last month after a disappointing run.
But his luck changed after he defeated Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in the final in Mallorca to win the first title of his career and has now notched up nine consecutive wins on grass.
"Those words will never come out of my mouth for the rest of my career," he said in reference to his previous derogatory comments.
"The grass and I, we´ve had a very strenuous relationship over the years but right now I think it´s my best friend.
"Everything from realising that I have two credentials at Wimbledon for the rest of my life, to checking my phone and seeing my name as an ESPN alert, to realising how much I disliked grass at the beginning of the grass court season, to now look at where I am.
"There´s so many different ways I could go about it. I just think the entire experience all together has just been a whirlwind."
