LAHORE: All-rounder Aamir Jamal believes in his hard work and looks forward to making his Test debut memorable in Sri Lanka.
Jamal was named in 16-member Pakistan Test squad for two-match series against Sri Lanka, scheduled next month.
"I will try my best to perform best of my abilities if given the chance," the cricketer said while speaking to media here today.
"I am working really hard to prepare myself according to Sri Lankan conditions. I want to perform for my team and make this tour memorable," said Jamal who has so far played 23 first-class matches.
Jamal made his T20I debut last year against England. He played two matches in the seven-match series.
The cricketer now wants to fulfill the role of an all-rounder in the team. "There are very few all-rounders in the circuit. I want to fill in the team as a proper all-rounder. I am working for that," he said.
The right-arm pacer has taken 64 wickets in 23 first-class matches. He is most likely to make Test debut in Sri Lanka next month.
Apart from Jamal, young Mohammad Hurraira also got his maiden Test call-up following his consistent performance in domestic cricket. Shaheen Shah Afridi also returns to Test squad as Pakistan are all set to start the third cycle of the ICC World Test Championship next month in Sri Lanka.
