QUETTA: Olympian javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem felt proud to lead the 34th National Games' contingent during flag march today at Ayub Stadium.
Arshad, who represented Pakistan in 2020 Tokyo Olympics, held Pakistan's flag during the opening ceremony.
"It was a proud moment for me," Arshad told GeoSuper.tv in a brief chat. "I am honoured to get this opportunity," he added.
Arshad made Pakistan's name in javelin throw circuit after finishing fifth in Tokyo Olympics 2020. He also won Golds in Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and Islamic Games in Turkey last year. He also won bronze in the 2017 Baku Islamic Games and 2018 18th Asian Games in Indonesia.
Arshad wished good luck to all the participating athletes in the National Games.
"My prayers and wishes are for all the athletes. May they win medals for their teams," he concluded.
Arshad, in his previous interview, shared that his participation in the games will depend on his fitness.
"I will assess the situation. If there is no fitness issue then I will feature in the National Games. And if I see that it will be dangerous for me then I will skip it," he had said.
“The key task ahead is to achieve top fitness first and then show my mettle. If I remain fit then I believe that I will be on the victory podium in the Asian Championships, Asian Games and World Championships."
