Carlo Ancelotti’s future as manager of Real Madrid will be decided by the results of matches from now till the end of the current season.
According to renowned Spanish journalist Mario Cortegana, some of the people at Real Madrid hope that Ancelotti stays beyond this summer but everyone knows it depends on results between now and the end of the season.
“Real Madrid’s coaching staff are aware of this and think Ancelotti’s job is still at risk,” Cortegana added.
Earlier, Brazil goalkeeper Ederson said that he and his teammates had discussed the "big possibility" of Ancelotti becoming the head coach of the national side.
He added that uncertainty over who will become Brazil's next coach has caused anxiety among the squad.
Tite had stepped down after Brazil were knocked out of the World Cup quarter-finals in Qatar.
However, in February Brazil's federation rejected reports that had reached a verbal agreement with Ancelotti, who has a contract with Madrid until 2024.
"There is a big possibility that he comes," Ederson told reporters on March 25.
The Manchester City keeper has also spoken to Casemiro, Vinicius Jr and Eder Militao, who all have the experience of playing under Ancelotti.
"What I've been told about him is that he's an exceptional coach, that everyone in the group likes, he's a guy who has a very successful career, just look at his CV. We will see in the near future if he will be here or not,” he said.
"I hope we can have a new coach quickly. I feel the anticipation too because there's too much speculation. Is it a Brazilian or a foreign coach? We are also living in a phase of anxiety,” he added.
Meanwhile, Brazilian FA (CBF) president Ednaldo Rodrigues had admitted that Ancelotti is his main target for the vacant managerial position of the national men’s side.
"Ancelotti is unanimously respected among players. Not only Ronaldo Nazario or Vinicius Jr but all those that have played for him," Rodrigues told Reuters in an exclusive interview.
"I really admire him for his honesty in the way he works and how constant his work is. He needs no introductions. He is really a top coach who he has several achievements and we hope he can have even more," he added.
According to Rodrigues, Ancelotti is highly regarded among the Brazilian players and the fans.
"Ancelotti is not only the players' favourite but it seems the fans' too," Rodrigues said. "Everywhere I go in Brazil, in every stadium, he is the first name the supporters ask me about.
"They talk about him in a very affectionate way, in recognition of an exemplary work he has done in his career.
"Let's have faith in God, wait for the appropriate time and we'll see if we can make it happen as we look for the new coach of the Brazilian national team."
