Pakistan’s out-of-favour middle-order batter Umar Akmal holds the unwanted record of most ducks in T20Is for the national side.

Akmal, who made his T20I debut in 2009, has 10 ducks in 79 innings, so far, in his career.

The right-hander last played for Pakistan in the shortest format of the game in 2019 against Sri Lanka in Lahore.

However, Akmal, who played for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League season eight, is keen on making a comeback in the national side.

"My job is to work hard so that I can continue to perform, and wherever I get the opportunity, I have tried to give my 100 percent,” Akmal said

"However, selecting for the national team is the job of the selectors, coaches, and captain. And my job is to continue to work. I have to improve my fitness so that I can make a good comeback on the national side,” he added.

It must be noted that the Pakistan team is currently preparing for the limited-overs series against New Zealand on home soil.

The Black Caps’ tour of Pakistan will include five ODIs and as many T20I matches.

The Pakistan players will also attend a four-day camp from April 7 in Lahore in order to fine tune their preparations for the series.
