Liverpool’s Fabinho has heaped praise on goalkeeper Alisson Becker after the goalless draw against Chelsea on Tuesday.

Liverpool are currently in eight place on the Premier League table with 43 points after 28 matches.

"It's always important to keep a clean sheet, to defend good. I think we have to thank Alisson again,” said Fabinho.

"This season it happened regularly that we need Ali to help us. He's been our best player this season and he showed again why. We have to defend better.

"The work of the team was really good. Some of the players, like Kostas and Curt and the other players, started the game and did well. It was not easy for them because I don't remember the last time Curtis started a game.

"But we have to keep working and try to get better and better for the next game."

Fabinho said his side put up a good show following the defeat against Manchester City, but admitted that further improvement is required, ahead of match against Arsenal at home this weekend.

"We need to create more, get more people in the box, create more chances to score,” he said. "I think it was a good game from us. Chelsea is a good team. Of course, both teams are not in a good moment but, in the end, we take the one point."

Liverpool have also announced that they will pay tribute to the 97 supporters who lost their lives in the Hillsborough tragedy at this weekend's game against Arsenal at Anfield.

“A minute’s silence will be observed prior to kick-off on Sunday to remember the children, women and men who lost their lives as a result of the events that occurred at the FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest on April 15, 1989,” the club said in a press release.

“A mosaic will also be displayed on the Kop during the minute of silence, featuring the Eternal Flames with the number 97.

“The team will wear black armbands as a mark of respect and there will be a commemorative edition of the matchday programme. Tributes will also be displayed on LED boards surrounding the pitch.”
