West Indies celebrate after taking a wicket against Pakistan — ICC

West Indies beat Pakistan by three runs in their third clash of the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup 2023 in Paarl, South Africa.

Opting to bat first, the West Indies posted a target of 117 runs before restricting Pakistan to 113 runs in 20 overs.

Needing 17 off the last over, Fatima Sana and Aliya Riaz fought hard but couldn't cross the winning line as the latter lost her wicket after hitting two consecutive boundaries.

Aliya was the top scorer for Pakistan as she scored 29 runs off 23 balls, laced up with four boundaries.

Skipper Bismah Maroof amassed 26 runs, while all-rounder Nida Dar scored 27 runs.

Opener Muneeba Ali, who scored a century against Ireland in the previous clash, could only score five runs.

For West Indies, Haley Matthews took two scalps, while Karishma Ramharack, Shamilia Connell, and Amy Fletcher took a wicket each.

Earlier, Pakistan restricted the West Indies to a score of 116 runs.

Rashada Williams top-scored for the West Indies as she scored 30 runs off 34 balls, including two four. Her opening partner Hailey Matthews also managed to score 20 runs.

Meanwhile, Shamene Campbell managed to gather 22 runs off 26 balls.

Apart from the three top-order batters, no other batter could cross the 15-run mark.

For Pakistan, Nida Dar claimed two wickets, while Nashra Sandhu, Sadia Iqbal, Tuba Hasan, and Fatima Sana took a scalp each.

The result ensured that England, with three wins in three matches, qualified for the semi-finals.

Pakistan still have a mathematical chance of making the last-four if they can beat England in their final match and India, currently second on the Group Two table, slip up against Ireland, who have yet to win a match.
