Peshawar Zalmi released their anthem for the eight edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Friday.

Zalmi captain Babar Azam, head coach Daren Sammy and star actor Mahira Khan have also featured in the anthem.

The anthem has been titled ‘Zalmi Raalal’ and reflects Peshawar as the bright city of flowers that it is, with urban progression and development.

Shahid Khan, better known by his stage name Naughty Boy, is the executive producer for Peshawar Zalmi’s anthem.

Naughty Boy has produced records for English rappers, Wiley and Chipmunk, as well as the famous album ‘Our Version of Events’ by Emeli Sande.

Earlier, Shahid said that he was excited about working on the PSL Anthem for Peshawar Zalmi since he wants to connect with the Pakistani audience.

“I am incredibly honoured to have the opportunity presented by Peshawar Zalmi to get on board as executive producer for their 2023 anthem. It is a great platform for new emerging artists filled with talent. I love empowering young homegrown talent here in the UK & having watched their anthems over the years and the global feel they carry, I am not surprised that Zalmi Anthems are globally anticipated music videos,” he said.

“It is an honour to help continue this amazing trend. I have always wanted to connect with Pakistani audiences, being a proud Pakistani myself who loves Pakistani cricket and I could not have found a better opportunity than this to do so! I am excited to work with the team and cannot wait for the magic to come out,” added Naughty Boy.

Zalmi will play their second match in the PSL 8 today (Friday) against Multan Sultans at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Earlier, Khurram Shahzad defended 16 runs in the last over as Peshawar Zalmi beat Karachi Kings by two runs during their first clash of PSL 8 at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi on Tuesday.

Put to bat first, Peshawar posted a massive 199 runs on the scoreboard before restricting the home side to 197-5 in 20 overs, thanks to Cadmore's magnificent knock, 92 off 50, and brilliant display by the bowlers.
