KARACHI: In the ongoing Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC) 2023, the Pakistan Boat Rally and Fishing Association (PBRFA) clinched the award for the Best Stall after showcasing sea sports activities while also displaying the master plan for the upcoming biggest boat rally and fishing tournament.
The award was given by Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah and Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi to PBRFA CEO Ahmed Mamoor Amimi.
Speaking on this occasion, Amimi highlighted his federation’s initiatives.
"In the past, PBRFA achieved new milestones and now they positively contribute towards the initiative of Boat Rally season 2, this time the plan is to explore Astola Island and Damb Miani Hor,” Amimi said.
Mamor also confirmed that "after the conclusion of PIMEC and Aman-2023, the Boat Rally and the fishing tournament will start from 17 February”.
"This is our first experience in PIMEC to organise a stall and our hard work won the award," Mamor added.
Amimi was also confident that the upcoming boat rally and fishing tournament will be a game changer for Pakistan's long coastline, which includes the well-being of natives, addressing environmental issues of the sea and creating harmony among government bodies and population.
Boat rally is considered formula one race of the sea. Last time, the rally took place between the sea of Gawadar and Karachi but the distance will be reduced to make the rally more interesting in the upcoming edition.
"This time, we will be finishing our rally on Astola Island, one of the beautiful islands of Pakistan. The reduction of distance will increase the competition among the boaters," Amimi said last month.
"We have started getting requests for participation. As many as 10-12 boaters will be able to participate in the event," he added.
Pakistan Navy is the prime supporter of Pakistan boat rally and assisted the organisers in order to make the event successful last year.
"Pakistan Navy has always supported us in this cause. Together, we will make ocean tourism more popular in Pakistan," Amimi concluded
