Karachi Kings' all-rounder Shoaib Malik heaped praise on his side's bowling ahead of the upcoming eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Malik lauded Karachi Kings' bowling department, especially Mohammad Amir and the spinners, but claimed that consistency would be key for them.

"Mohammad Amir is a good bowler and has won many matches for Pakistan. He will lead the Karachi Kings in the bowling attack. Also, we have quality spinners, such as Imad Wasim, Tabraiz Shamsi and Imran Tahir, in the lineup as well," Malik said in a media interaction after the launch of PSL's new trophy.

In November 2022, the Kings traded their last season's captain Babar Azam with Peshawar Zalmi to get Malik for PSL 8.

It is worth mentioning here that Malik was the fourth highest-scorer in the seventh edition of the PSL. The batter amassed 401 runs at an average of 36.45.

Malik also opened about the new trophy of PSL 8, which was unveiled at Lahore's historic Shalimar Garden on Thursday.

"The trophy should be unveiled at places like Shalimar Garden. Credit goes to everyone for choosing this place. PSL is becoming a bigger brand every year, which is a very good thing," Malik stated.

Karachi Kings will kick off their PSL campaign against Peshawar Zalmi at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi on February 14.

The opening ceremony of PSL 8 will be held in Multan on February 13 prior to the tournament opener between 2021 winners Multan Sultans and defending champions Lahore Qalandars; meanwhile, the closing ceremony and final will be played on March 19 in Lahore, which will also host play-offs.

Rawalpindi will stage 11 fixtures, Karachi and Lahore will host nine matches each, whereas Multan will have five home games.

Lahore Qalandars will attempt to become the first side to win back-to-back titles; meanwhile Islamabad United will aim to become the most successful side by lifting the trophy thrice.

Except for Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans, no other side has reached the final of the tournament as defending champions.
