KARACHI: Nabi Gul, who is currently representing Peshawar has been banned for three matches after being found guilty of a Level 3 breach of the PCB Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

The violation occurred during the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024-25 final at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi.

Nabi breached Article 2.15(a) of the Code of Conduct, which pertains to "Attempting to gain an unfair advantage during a Match."

This provision includes deliberate actions to deceive umpires, such as falsely claiming a catch while knowing the ball was not caught cleanly, seeking external input for deciding on referrals, or using foreign objects to alter the ball's condition.

The incident happened on Friday, the second day of the five-day final, during the 73rd over of Sialkot Region’s first innings.

Nabi falsely claimed a catch despite having clearly dropped the ball.

On-field umpires Faisal Khan Afridi and Rashid Riaz, with support from TV umpire Imran Jawed, charged Nabi with the offense.

Match Referee Iqbal Sheikh reviewed the evidence and imposed the sanction. Nabi admitted to the charge, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.

In the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, the 26-year-old scored 274 runs in five matches while representing Peshawar, at an average of 39.14.
