Holder becomes the second West Indian to sign up for the player draft

LAHORE: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Wednesday, announced that West Indies’ experienced all-rounder Jason Holder has signed up for the highly-anticipated player draft for the league’s 10th edition.

The announcement was made on the league's social media handles with a banner and a caption stating, "Big man, big impact! West Indies All-rounder Jason Holder steps into the #HBLPSLDraft."

The fast-bowling all-rounder, who made his international debut in 2013, has been a regular part of West Indies’ Test side, while his last international appearance in white-ball cricket, came in February 2024.

Over the course of his 11-year-long career, Holder has represented West Indies in 69 Tests, 138 ODIs and 63 T20Is and took 387 wickets across formats, besides accumulating 5801 international runs with the help of three centuries and 26 fifties.

He also boasts a wealth of experience of franchise leagues, having Bangladesh Premier League, International League T20, Indian Premier League and Big Bash League. He, however, is yet to feature in the PSL.

Notably, Jason Holder is the second West Indian and 27th overall foreign player to register for the PSL 10 draft, which will take place in Balochistan for the first time as Gwadar is set to host the landmark event on January 11, 2025.

The pick order for the player draft has also been announced, with two-time champions Lahore Qalandars making the first pick in the opening round of the platinum category, followed by arch-rivals Karachi Kings.

2019 champions Quetta Gladiators will make the third pick, while Peshawar Zalmi will have the fourth.

Last season’s runners-up, Sultans, and reigning champions United will make the fifth and sixth picks, respectively.
