Rachin Ravindra and Melie Kerr starred at New Zealand Cricket Awards 2024, which were held in Christchurch today.
The 24-year-old Ravindra became the youngest player to clinch the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal, meanwhile Kerr bagged the Debbie Hockley Medal, for the second year in a row. Both medals are the top prizes in New Zealand Cricket.
Ravindra played a key role across all three formats for New Zealand last year. At the ICC Cricket World Cup in India, he was the event’s fourth highest run-scorer with 578 runs at 64, notching up three centuries and two half-centuries.
Ravindra was also the winner of the ICC Emerging Player of the Year award earlier this year.
Ravindra also impressed in the Test arena, scoring New Zealand’s highest ever maiden Test ton with 240 during the first Test against South Africa at Bay Oval.
Kerr clinched all the major female awards, claiming the Debbie Hockley Medal, ODI and T20I Player of the Year, and the Super Smash Women’s Player of the Year.
The all-rounder was her side’s highest ODI run-scorer with 541 runs at an average of 67.
