Senegal captain, Sadio Mane, has finally tied the knot with his long-time partner, Aisha Tamba, in a private ceremony held in Dakar, Senegal, on Sunday, 7th January.
This comes just six days before the commencement of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) scheduled to begin in Ivory Coast on Saturday, 13th January.
The Al Nassr player is presently in camp with his Senegalese teammates in preparation for the upcoming 2023 AFCON tournament.
Before heading off for his AFCON duties, Mane also unveiled a stadium he constructed in his hometown, Bambali.
Reportedly, the 31-year-old Al Nassr striker first noticed Aisha Tamba when she was 16 years old, yet refrained from a formal approach due to her minor status.
The event was said to be attended by family, friends and fellow footballers.
In a post shared by Senegalese photographer Magvision, Aisha Tamba was pictured in her white gown while Mane donned a traditional white Arabian attire.
Aisha Tamba was born in Casamance, a town neighbouring Bambali, the village where Mane originates from. Known to hail from a modest background, Aisha Tamba notably abstains from social media, a trait that piqued Mane's interest.
In 2022, Sadio Mane discussed the qualities he sought in his ideal partner. He expressed a desire to marry someone devoid of a social media presence and shared his preference for a partner who shares his religious beliefs.
“I’ve seen a lot of girls asking me why I am not married, but sorry you might be wasting your time. The woman I marry will not be on social networks,” Mane said.
“I want to marry a woman who respects God and prays well. Everyone has their own way of making their choice of love,” Mane added.
