Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella could move to the Premier League, according to a report by Fichajes.
Premier League clubs Chelsea and Liverpool are interested in signing the midfielder and could make a bid in the coming months.
However, the Italian club is keen on extending Barella’s stay bearing in mind that the 26-year-old has a deal with Inter until the summer of 2026.
It will be interesting to see if Barella leaves for England or signs a long-term deal with Inter.
Barella has made a name for himself in Italian football and the chance to showcase his ability in England could be an enticing option for the talented midfielder.
Chelsea are searching for the profile of a quality playmaker and the 26-year-old would suits their needs. He can play alongside Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez since his skillset will complement the other players.
Similarly, Liverpool need a replacement for Thiago Alcantara, who is nearing the end of his contract at the club. The Italian international is a good option to replace the Spanish midfielder whose time at Liverpool has been hampered by injuries.
Thiago has been out of action since undergoing surgery on a hip issue that ruled him out of the final weeks of the 2022-23 campaign.
Jürgen Klopp on November 3: "It's an ongoing thing and we cannot put any kind of pressure on there as well. We expect him to be back - and I would say probably the start of the New Year. It's now already November, so that would mean another four weeks. I would say that's probably a realistic thing to try and I can't wait, to be honest, to have him back. The player he is is just exceptional. I understand you ask, but it's nothing where we can have a week by week update because that will not change a lot in this moment."
It must be noted that Barella is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition and both Chelsea and Liverpool must be prepared to pay at a premium to secure a deal.
