Rio Ferdinand made an honest admission that Manchester United is no longer a great club for youngsters and advised FC Barcelona’s star defender Ronald Araujo to not sign for the 20-time Premier League (PL) champions.

Despite spending around €200m in the summer, problems seem to be only increasing for Erik Ten Hag as they are ranked sixth in the PL and are on the verge of getting knocked out of the UEFA Champions League.

Other than that, Ten Hag also had a feud with some of the players, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho are the current players to have fallen out of favour with the Dutchman.

Surprisingly, there have been immense rumours of Araujo being unsettled at Barcelona as he has been consistently forced to play as a right-back by head coach Xavi Hernandez and Bayern Munich have their eyes on the situation.

Ferdinand, who was part of the 2008 CL winning team, advised Araujo to not join United if an opportunity arrives in the future.

“If I’m a player like Ronald who I think has every attribute to be one of the best defenders in the world, why are you going United?’ Ferdinand told Vibe with Five.

“I’d be looking at Varane and going if he can go to Manchester United and get benched for a left-back, or for an old veteran like Jonny Evans an ex-player who has come back for his twilight years and someone who used to be captain who was left out for 18 months but is back in form now and is playing, I can’t go there and risk my life and risk my career.”

He then talked about the decline players have faced after joining the team and mentioned a number of players whose transfer value has gone down since becoming a part of the Manchester club.

“If you look at it what player has gone to Manchester United and got better? Varane has got worse, Casemiro has gone backwards now in their value and worth. You’d get good money for Bruno still, he’s the only one

“Wan-Bissaka, you aren’t getting £50million now, they aren’t getting what they paid for Dalot, I’m sure. Amad Diallo, the Ivory Coast boy. I could go through them all. I don’t know who comes in.

“Would you get the same money for Hojlund now? No! Sancho? I could keep going if you want. Van de Beek?”
