Pakistan’s former captain and star batter Babar Azam was not among the top 10 trending searches for "people" in Pakistan for 2023, according to renowned search engine Google.
This year’s top 10 trending searches for people in Pakistan showcased a diverse range of personalities. However, despite being in the news for majority of the year, Azam was not part of the elusive list.
It must be noted that Azam was also not among the top personalities Pakistanis Googled in 2022.
Vloggers Hareem Shah and Aliza Sehar were among the top names people searched for this year. Third place was secured by Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, who was extensively searched this year amidst rumors about his wellbeing.
Young Pakistani cricketers Abdullah Shafique and Saud Shakeel and the emerging talent Haseebullah Khan were also part of the list.
Other cricketers in the top 10 included Australia’s Glenn Maxwell and India’s Shubman Gill for impressing during the ICC World Cup, while Usman Khan garnered attention for his knocks in the Pakistan Super League.
Pakistan's caretaker Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar, was also at the forefront of public interest, reflecting the nation's interest in politics.
Trending cricket matches
As far as cricket matches is concerned, the top most trending searched matches of 2023 in Pakistan showcased the fervent passion for the sport.
The top three searched matches; Pakistan vs New Zealand, Pakistan vs Afghanistan, and Pakistan vs Australia, were all interesting clashes. The India vs New Zealand match in the final stages of the Cricket World Cup took the fourth spot.
The Pakistan vs Netherlands, India vs Pakistan, Australia vs England, India vs Australia, Pakistan vs Sri Lanka and England vs Pakistan were also among the matches people searched for.
Cricket also dominated searches in Pakistan which were related to events since the Pakistan Super League, Cricket World Cup, Asia Cup 2023, Ashes and Indian Premier League were included in the top five.
