Haider Ali bagged a gold medal for Pakistan in Discus Throw during the ongoing Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China, on Thursday.

Haider clinched the top prize with a throw of 51.23m in his fourth attempt.

Japan’s Yamato Shimbo secured silver with a throw of 49.70m, meanwhile China’s Zhang Xuelong throw of 48.26m helped him bag bronze.

The Pakistani star also managed to book his spot in the Paris 2024 Paralympics after meeting the minimum entry standard of 39m. It must be noted that Haider’s all six throws were over the 39m mark today.

He also won Pakistan's first-ever gold medal at Tokyo 2020 Paralympics in Discus Throw.

Haider’s success is not just limited to Discus Throw since he also won a silver and bronze medal during the 2008 and 2016 Paralympics, respectively, in the Long Jump event.

Haider, who is arguably Pakistan’s finest para-athlete, now has six medals overall in Asiad. The events in which he has won medals in the Asian Para Games include Javelin Throw, Discuss Throw, 100m and Long Jump.
